House founded in 1930<\/strong><\/p>

Great french specialty, the countertop appeared in the 19th century. Commonly nicknamed \"the Zinc,\" it's made with pewter, a natural material.<\/strong>.<\/p>

En 1930, Marcel Nectoux ouvre son atelier rue de Charonne \u00e0 Paris. Son savoir-faire est transmis \u00e0 son fils Maurice qui dirige la fabrique de 1947 \u00e0 1997 puis \u00e0 son\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 petit-fils Thierry. Ce dernier passe le flambeau \u00e0 Maxime Dethomas en 2019.<\/p>

ENTIRELY HANDCRAFTED, NECTOUX COUNTERTOPS ARE UNIQUE. <\/strong><\/p>

For 90 years, the methods and tools used have remained the same and are an essential part of our know-how<\/a>.<\/p>

No formal training exists for our craft. It's learned here, at the Ateliers, with the experienced artisans. From the pewter melting<\/strong> to the finishes, the techniques are those of Marcel Nectoux, perfected by his son Maurice (who ran the company from 1947 to 1997), and then by Thierry. Everything is handcraft, custom-made<\/strong>. Every piece is unique !<\/p>

Edge edge profiles<\/a> specific crafted are derived from traditional molds<\/strong>, some of which date back to the 19th century. It all begins with a pewter ingot<\/strong>, who will be melted, poured, and transformed into a border.<\/strong>, adopting styles from the 1900s, Art Deco, or Neo Design. The workshops thus receive the pewter ingot<\/strong> that they melt into a cauldron<\/strong>They pour there edge profiles<\/a> into a mold that they shape on a wooden frame.<\/p>

Shaping and assembling involve the assembly and welding of the border with the pewter track<\/strong> on the wooden frame. These are then rasped, filed, curled in a traditional and artisanal way<\/strong>. This requires approximately 12 and 15 hours of work<\/a> for a meter to create a countertop<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

A confusion dating back to World War II <\/strong><\/p>

Zinc is a non-food material<\/strong>\u00a0which shows marks from daily use: it leaves traces. On the other hand, pewter is a food-safe material<\/strong> used for a long time in the manufacturing of high-end countertops<\/strong> because its beautiful silver color and easy maintenance make it suitable for professional use. The Nectoux Workshops melt pewter at 210\u00b0C. This traditional technique allows for shaping into any desired forms and a variety of multiple edge profiles<\/a><\/p>

Therefore, one should not confuse les comptoirs en \u00e9tain qui sont souvent appel\u00e9s\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00ab les Zincs \u00bb<\/strong>. This etymology dates back to the time of the Second World War. The Germans dismantled pewter countertops<\/strong> (containing lead at the time) to make shells. Many did not survive to the occupation ! Pewter translates to \"Zinn\" in German.<\/strong>These famous pewter countertops then took on the popular name \"Zincs\". Being a natural material, pewter does not oxidize and is resistant to alcohols and hot liquids. A simple polish once or twice a month restores its original shine.<\/p>

We recommend using our soap \" le Chardonneret \"<\/strong> which cleans, maintains, degreases, the pewter<\/strong>. The edge profile<\/strong><\/p>

Traversing centuries and following trends, Pewter edge profiles<\/strong> are highly sought after. They feature various motifs<\/strong> that bring elegance to countertops, furniture, and tables: grape clusters, diamonds, pearls, vegetal friezes, and more.<\/p>

We offer traditional edge profiles<\/strong> classified into two styles : the \"1870-1910\" era<\/em> for large borders (over 9 cm) and the post-war \"1920-1935\" era<\/em> for small borders (under 9 cm).<\/p>

In 2020, we launched eight new edge profiles<\/strong> avec un style n\u00e9o design.\u00a0
