edge profile n.07
11 cm
A creativity wave provoked by the Art Nouveau hit architecture from the end of the XIXth century until 1914.
After the First World War, Art Deco imposed itself as a movement seeking simplicity, whether that be in reliefs or in lines. This ‘crisis art’ at the end of the 1920s and during the 1930s was nonetheless a luxury art.
Our edge profile n.07 bears witness to the early days of this transition period onto a ‘geometrical rationalization’, whilst still trying to use elements that help pewter reflect light almost as if distorting it, thanks to decorative heads, horizontal reliefs and small vertical lines.
The unmatched effect of this edge profile helped export it all over the planet: from the café at the feet of the Eiffel Tower ‘Le Piquet’ to the famous ‘Balthazar’ in New York, the ‘Caffè Propaganda’ in Rome, the ‘Sazaby’ in Shibuya (Tokyo) and ‘Le Sélect’ in Toronto.
